What kind of benefits does my sponsored child receive through my sponsorship?
Sponsorship affects every area of the child’s life, providing directly for the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of your child. Because Forward Edge supports two different programs, the actual needs being met will vary depending on the program the child is a part of.

For the children of Villa Esperanza, your support helps provide food, shelter, clothing, health care, education, spiritual training, emotional guidance, and more. In this way, Villa Esperanza is more than a place of survival; it is a place God is using to help these children thrive!  Children of Villa Esperanza live at the Villa and are fully cared for in every way.

Trigo y Miel helps provide one meal a day, six days a week for children living with their families in extreme poverty.  Your sponsorship helps the staff of Trigo y Miel provide meals as well as help with homework, Bible classes, emotional guidance, unconditional love and the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ!

How much is a sponsorship through Villa Esperanza?
Child Sponsorship at Villa Esperanza starts at $30 per month. $390 per month completely provides for all the needs of one child at Villa Esperanza. We place only as many sponsors with a child as is required to meet her needs. Because certain costs are fixed, as children are added to the program, the needed funds may be lowered per child. Forward Edge is dedicated to evaluating the cost of caring for the children and adjusting these numbers as necessary.

How much is a sponsorship through Trigo y Miel?
Child sponsorship through the Trigo y Miel program is $30 per month.  This will help provide one meal, six days a week for a child.  In addition, the child is given help with homework, Bible lessons, emotional guidance, unconditional love and the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ!

Why is sponsorship through the Villa more than other sponsorship programs?
Child Sponsorships support the program at Villa Esperanza completely. Child Sponsorships are vital as they supply the funds necessary to care for all the needs of the children. This is not just limited to the basics of food, shelter and clothing. Sponsorship also enables us to go deeper, providing loving and experienced house-moms (one per eight children), a solid education, tutoring for those struggling in school, psychological counseling and in-depth Bible teaching. This sets the Villa Esperanza program apart from other sponsorship programs, like Trigo y Miel, designed to provide basics like food and homework help, or school uniforms and books.

What will I receive from Forward Edge as a sponsor?
You will receive a Welcome Kit 10-15 day after we receive your commitment and payment. The Welcome Kit includes your child’s photo and background information. You will also receive periodic email updates regarding the progress of the children of Villa Esperanza. You can expect contact from your child at least once per year.

Can I write to my child?
Yes! Please refer to the "Guidelines for Gifts and Correspondence" in your welcome packet for specific details.

What if my child moves or leaves the program?
On occasion, a child may have to move or withdraw from the sponsorship program. If this happens, we will inform you and give you the opportunity to sponsor another wonderful child in need of your support and love.

What if the child I choose is already fully sponsored?
In the case where donations and number of sponsors exceed what is needed for a particular child, Forward Edge will redirect the funds to another child in need. You will be notified of this change in your welcome kit and introduced to the child you are helping.

What are my options for paying for my sponsorship?
Payment can be accepted via check mailed to our home office or through our online donation page. We encourage you to set up an automatic payment through our online donation center, as it is convenient for you and also helps reduce our processing costs. Our online donation center allows for monthly or weekly automatic repeating payments (based on your preference) that can be billed to a credit card or drafted from a bank account. You may also make one-time gifts through our online donation center should you wish to pay for your sponsorship in one lump sum.

If I do NOT set up an automatic payment online, will you send me a reminder or invoice?
Each month you will receive a donation receipt with a tear-off portion that may be used to send in your next payment.

What if my financial situation changes or I can no longer fulfill my monthly commitment?
You are free to discontinue your support at any time. We request you notify us via mail or email (children@forwardedge.org) as it allows us to find a new sponsor for your child and keep our records current.

May I send gifts to my child?
Please refer to the "Guidelines for Gifts & Correspondence" in your welcome packet for specific details.

May I visit my child?
Absolutely! Forward Edge International teams travel to Nicaragua many times a year. By joining a team, you will have the chance to meet and spend quality time with your sponsored child. All travel plans to visit Villa Esperanza should be routed through the Forward Edge International home office.
