In New Orleans, Forward Edge teams help Hurricane Katrina survivors get back into their homes. Even years after the hurricane hit, more than 100,000 people are displaced, living in temporary housing and waiting for someone to help.

Forward Edge volunteers repair and rebuild the homes of these families. With the help of volunteer teams and generous donations, Forward Edge will restore the homes of 20 more families this year.

While in the Gulf Coast, FEI volunteers also develop relationships with poverty-stricken children living in the projects. Teams play with the children, teach Bible stories, assist with crafts and sing. You will show Christ’s love to some of the most needy children in the United States!

1. Wear your Forward Edge T-shirt on the day of travel! This will help our staff to identify all of you.
2. Pack light! Checked baggage can weigh no more than 50lbs.
3. Try to pack all of your clothing and personal items on a carry-on, so you don’t lose it.
4. You may take 2 carry-on bags—one bag and one personal item.
5. Carry-on bags may only have liquids in 3-oz containers or smaller.
6. Put all irreplaceable items, such as important medication or valuables, into your carry-ons.

FEI teams will stay at New Genesis Bible Church. Teams stay in gender-specific rooms and sleep on the ground in a sleeping bag. Showers are available at the church. Plan to share bathrooms with other people on your team. Meals are home-cooked and prepared for you at the church!
