More than 11 million children have been orphaned by AIDS worldwide. In Kenya, the number of AIDS orphans is quickly approaching one million. Already, millions of people have died from AIDS and thousands in Kenya are HIV-positive. And, HIV/AIDS has contributed immensely to the extreme poverty in Kenya.
Forward Edge teams help to meet the basic needs of the poorest of the poor in Kenya, specifically in Kibera slum and Kijabe.
Mama Beth, in Kijabe, feeds more than 60 children three nutritious meals each day while providing them with invaluable love, support and assistance. In Kijabe, volunteers interact with the local children, offering much-needed love and attention to these precious kids. In addition Forward Edge teams visit the homes of some families living in Kijabe and offer food, hygiene items and encouragement.
In Kibera slum, Forward Edge teams partner with Pneuma Ministries and Dove Ministries to minister to the youth, show compassion to the families and share Christ’s love with the children living in the slum. Volunteers fix homes in disrepair and shower the people with love, joy and hope.
