A New Opportunity in Vernet, Haiti

Forward Edge has embarked on a new partnership in the southern Haitian city of Vernet, a community of about 3,000 people. As an organization, we feel called to partner with the people of Vernet, to come alongside them in both their challenges and their strengths.

 

Restoring Cuba

We’ve talked a lot about the devastating impact Hurricane Matthew had on Haiti last October, but Cuba was hit hard by this storm as well. There are hundreds of thousands of people who lost their roofs, or had their homes damaged or completely destroyed. And thousands lost their livelihoods because of damage to agriculture.

 
 

UPDATE: Hurricane Matthew Relief

On December 3-10, we sent our first disaster-relief team to Les Cayes. As team members traveled past destroyed houses and farms they noticed the desperate needs Haitians still have after Hurricane Matthew.

 

From Hood to Coast to Haiti

Everything changed for the Belizaire family after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Mr. Belizaire was killed, and the family’s home was destroyed. Mrs. Belizaire has three children, and struggled to make ends meet by selling clothing on the street. The Belizaire children (Ralph, Carl, and Carla) were sponsored by generous friends through Forward Edge, which provided them with education, safe water and food—but without a safe home, it was difficult to stay healthy and keep up in school.
