Miguel lives with his mother, stepfather, and five siblings in a small wood house with a rough cement floor and a sheet metal roof. Eight family members share two bedrooms. They cook with propane and electricity and have running water from the town water line every two days. The lighting in the home is dim. The family uses an outdoor latrine.
Miguel’s parents were divorced before he was born; he is the youngest of three children of his biological parents. His mother remarried and had 2 more children with Miguel’s stepfather, who also had a son from a previous marriage. Miguel’s mother stays home to care for the home; his stepfather is self-employed, making and selling pizzas, but his sole income is not enough to support their large family.
As a child sponsor, you’re providing things like nutritious meals, safe drinking water, education, health care, and spiritual instruction. Beyond meeting their critical needs, you’re building a priceless personal relationship with your child, helping them discover their true worth and God-given potential.
