CUBA CHILD SPONSORSHIP

Hola (hello), my name is Olaydis

  • location

    Cuba

  • 14 yrs. old

    05-27-2012

Entered the program: February 2026

Olaydis lives with her mother, her four siblings, and her grandparents in a small two-bedroom plastered brick house with a concrete roof and floor. The house is in poor condition and the roof leaks when it rains. The home has electricity but no indoor plumbing. The kitchen and latrine are outdoors and the family cooks with electricity, charcoal, or wood, depending on availability. Piped water is received from the town water line every two days. Olaydis, her mom and her siblings share three beds in one bedroom; her grandparents have the other. The bedrooms do not have doors.

Olaydis’s grandmother is the only family member who is working and providing financially. Olaydis’s parents are divorced. Her mother stays home to care for the children and her father lives in another province and is unemployed. The family has only 2 meals a day until mid-month when they have only one. Olaydis and her siblings go to school without food, and often go to bed hungry. Her brother, Alex, is also in the Good Samaritans program.

Sponsorship Level What's this?

Two $38 sponsorships are needed to cover the complete holistic care of one child. Cover one or two sponsorships.

Change the World for One

As a child sponsor, you’re providing things like nutritious meals, safe drinking water, education, health care, and spiritual instruction. Beyond meeting their critical needs, you’re building a priceless personal relationship with your child, helping them discover their true worth and God-given potential.
