Melany lives with her mother and grandmother; she is an only child. They live in a fourth-floor, two-bedroom apartment. They have electricity and untreated running water which they sometimes boil to drink. They cook with propane. The home has a refrigerator, TV, and good lighting. Melany has her own bed and shares a bedroom with her grandmother.
Melany and her mother recently lost her father at age 37 due to a chronic illness he suffered with for many years. Melany’s mother is hoping to get a job as a high school teacher now that she needs to provide for the family alone. The family usually has two meals a day.
As a child sponsor, you’re providing things like nutritious meals, safe drinking water, education, health care, and spiritual instruction. Beyond meeting their critical needs, you’re building a priceless personal relationship with your child, helping them discover their true worth and God-given potential.
