2025 Story Recap

A Few of Our Favorite Stories From This Year

We’ve witnessed so many encouraging moments across our Forward Edge Family this year—far more than we could share in a single post. Here’s just a small glimpse of what God has been doing through our local partners and the faithful support of people like you. These glimpses remind us why we do what we do: every story matters.

A Muslim Family’s Journey to Faith in Christ

Rahaman never imagined his family would follow Jesus. In Tamale, Ghana, a father’s faith is the family’s faith, and Rahaman was Muslim. But when his son Fahad began attending our discipleship class in search of food, something changed. Rahaman saw his son grow more respectful, his wife Fatimata less anxious, and their home filled with peace. For two years, he quietly watched as our program provided meals and education for his son, a wheelchair for Fatimata, and as faith steadily replaced fear in their home. Eventually, Rahaman shared that he had sensed Jesus knocking on his heart for years but had been too stubborn to respond. Now, moved by what he saw in his own home, Rahaman chose to follow Christ!

In Kosova, many Roma girls are expected to leave school young, marry early, and remain unseen. That could have been Drilona’s story. She once stood beside her father, collecting cans for cash, believing that school and a different future weren’t for girls like her. But through our program, she met mentors who believed in her, helped her stay in school, and invited her to summer camp, where she gave her life to Christ. Today, Drilona is growing in faith and confidence, discovering that her life holds value far beyond what she was told to expect. Watch more of her story below.

Nubia’s Story

Nubia has been part of our Oaxaca, Mexico program since she was four years old. Growing up in a home marked by poverty, she was often belittled and overlooked. But in the care of Pastors Victor and Lety, she found a place where she felt safe, heard and valued. Though she faced academic challenges, she received extra support and steadily improved. Over time, she also grew in faith, receiving Jesus in 2023 and being baptized in March 2025. Last month, Nubia reached a milestone that once seemed out of reach: she graduated from university with a degree in nursing. We are so proud of her and look forward to all that God has planned for her future!

A Life-Changing Gift

We’d like to share Didley’s story with you. But who better to tell it than the young person living it? We’re humbled to be a conduit for this kind of life transformation.

“My name is Didley, I am very happy to be one of the young people who benefit from the Forward Edge program in the Vernet, Haiti community. I remember when I was in my last year of high school my mother sat down with me and told me that she could not afford to pay for University for me and my older brother. I was really sad, I hurt a lot because we are going to sit at home without learning anything.

While I was going to sleep, I knelt down and started praying to God. On Saturday I went to the club meeting while I was in a small activity the coordinator of the program told me, there is good news for you: Your sponsor will take charge to pay your University tuition fees.

I was really glad and I ran to tell my mother that news. It brought a lot of joy to the family and we prayed to thank God for his mercy and his grace for hearing our prayers. Now it is no longer a dream but a reality for me.

The whole family Is praying that God will continue to bless the Forward Edge ministry throughout the world.”

The Impact of a New Well in Uganda

With a working water source now at our community center site, families in Kibibi no longer spend hours each day gathering water from a nearby swamp. This burden once kept many children from school. Thanks to Forward Edge and Light a Candle Uganda, the community center provides clean water for up to 30 families a day, with wait times down to just minutes. School enrollment has nearly doubled, and in addition to meals, mentorship, and other care offered by our program, children now have real opportunities for the future. Meeting this basic need has opened the door to lasting change for the whole community.

Behajdin Receives Glasses

At just 11 years old, Behajdin felt overlooked at home, at school, and in the crowded streets of Gjakova, Kosova. With a disabled father, a distant stepmother, and no memory of his biological mother, he carried more than most children should. He struggled in school, unable to read or write, and his vision made learning even harder.

But everything changed when a group of classmates invited him to our Good News Club. Though he came unsure, he was welcomed with open arms. Teachers and friends stepped in to help with schoolwork and arranged for medical care. With time, Behajdin began learning his letters, gaining confidence, and finding joy in a place that now feels safe. It was obvious Behajdin’s vision was very bad as he’d lean in close to do his work, and struggled badly with school work.

Our program directors took him to an optometrist and were able to gift him with a pair of glasses that will allow him to see his schoolwork and change his life. When he received the glasses, his same friends that invited him to the program were there to celebrate with him. And his stepmother who has kept her distance from our program even commented: “I can’t believe this. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.”

Teen-Led Transformation

A team from Smithtown Christian School in New York recently traveled to Cuba – and the connection with our program there was immediate. The team’s dance ministry aligned seamlessly with the church’s style, creating a beautiful sense of unity that felt like family. One Cuban teen named Rosabel was especially moved. After seeing the team’s presentations, she began asking thoughtful questions about how she could start a similar ministry in Cuban hospitals. Throughout the week, student testimonies sparked countless conversations, and 92 people made the decision to follow Jesus! What an incredible week of transformation and connection.

Fred’s New Home

Jane, our Kenya program director, first visited Fred and his children’s home a few years ago and was heartbroken by their poor living conditions. Fred, a single father of four, was struggling to provide for his children after their mother abandoned them. They lacked food, clothing, and a safe place to call home.

Jane prayed and hoped for transformation, and God answered her prayers. Through the support of our program, Fred and his children moved into a fully furnished, safe, and comfortable home.

Tears of joy filled Fred’s eyes as he expressed his gratitude: “I used to live in a mud house, and now I will never see the mud again. My children finally feel at home. I am truly happy because of what you have done for my family.”

Supporting Sherina’s Bright Future

Sherina, a 12-year-old from Kibibi, Uganda, lives with her grandmother after being abandoned by her father, who felt unable to care for her. Stigmatized and without resources, Sherina’s future seemed uncertain—until our program launched in her village. With encouragement from program staff, her grandmother enrolled her in school, where Sherina was welcomed with open arms. Despite the challenges of navigating with her old wheelchair, her classmates lovingly take turns helping her get around. Today, Sherina dreams of becoming a nurse, and with the support of her community and our program, we are committed to helping her pursue her dream.

Children Memorize Beatitudes

Forward Edge partnered with God’s Money Foundation on their “Know Jesus” project, inspiring youth ages 12-19 to memorize the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12. Create Hope Ghana was the first to take on the challenge, and in just one week, 26 children memorized and recited the passages! Each child received a certificate, a Bible, and essential supplies—along with the joy of hiding God’s Word in their hearts.

A Year of Impact

As we look back on this year, we’re reminded: none of this happens without you. Thank you for joining us in the work God is doing.

A Tax-Savvy Way To Give

As Christ-followers, we give to others to follow Christ’s example and to invest in His eternal Kingdom. We trust Jesus when he said, “It is better to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). While it should never be the reason why we give, a secondary benefit when we do, in
