Christmas is a special time of year, especially when seen through the eyes of a child filled with wonder as they gaze upon glowing colored lights and brightly wrapped presents.

We all know the joy in giving a gift, especially to a child, and watching their faces light up with excitement. This is particularly true for a vulnerable child whose Christmas holiday is very humble in comparison to our own.

Receiving Christmas presents is not something naturally expected or taken for granted in many developing countries. Families consider themselves fortunate to be able to have a nice meal, and to spend quality time with family and friends during the holidays. Everything else is a bonus.

One of the great things about sponsoring a child in a Forward Edge program is that you have the unique opportunity to bless your child, and others, at Christmas.

Through Forward Edge, you’re able to send monetary gifts which are used to purchase presents for your child. This is such a blessing for them, whether they’re able to participate directly in shopping for their gift, or they have the joy of receiving a wrapped surprise at Christmas. A present is something extra special that expresses love to them.

At Forward Edge, we love to make Christmastime a wonderful and memorable occasion for all the children in our programs. Each of our programs host a Christmas party for the children and families in their community, complete with a festive program, favorite holiday foods, and presents for everyone.

And this is something anyone can contribute to. Listed below is a Christmas Fund for each of our programs. A gift to our fund helps to provide those extra special holiday blessings to children who might not otherwise get to experience the magic of Christmas that we grew up enjoying.

In Acts 20:35, the apostle Paul reminds us that, “The Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'”

This season, why not give yourself the heart-warming gift of knowing you shared the love of God and the joy of Christmas with a child in need.
