On one Caribbean island, many families survive on less than $20 a month. Parents often struggle to provide enough food, jobs are scarce, and daily life is made even more difficult by frequent power outages, devastating annual hurricanes, aging infrastructure, limited opportunities, and ongoing shortages of food, medicine and other everyday necessities. In some communities, following Christ can come at a significant personal cost, requiring people to leave behind livelihoods tied to local religious traditions.
Yet even in the midst of these challenges, God is moving powerfully. In partnership with trusted local churches, Forward Edge reaches more than 1,000 children each week with nutritious meals, safe water, educational support, medical care, discipleship, and the hope of the gospel. Through evangelistic outreaches, thousands more children and families are hearing about Jesus, while practical initiatives like community gardens and agricultural training help strengthen food security and create jobs for struggling families.
By meeting both physical and spiritual needs, we’re helping children grow in faith, discover their God-given purpose, and become a lasting source of hope in their families and communities.
Declaring and demonstrating the good news of Jesus Christ has always been—and will always be—at the heart of everything we do. Our program leaders are deeply rooted in the local church and integrate discipleship into every aspect of the program.
Children are the seeds of the future. When we invest in them, they grow into agents of change in their families and communities. Our program meets the individual needs of each child and extends outward to their whole environment.
We care for the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Our program provides regular meals, food baskets for families, medical assistance, safe drinking water, discipleship, and a loving community.
Our leaders are local pastors and community members with a deep passion for the next generation. We work closely with them to ensure strong relationships, cultural understanding, and wise stewardship.
After a devastating hurricane, our team held an outreach for children in the community and provided each child with a snack. As they were being handed out, Yaneisi gave hers to her younger brother, who didn’t want to come get one for himself. When a volunteer offered her another snack, she replied that she had already received one. In a season when everyone had so little, her instinct was to make sure her brother had enough.
When the volunteer saw Yaneisi again sometime later, she met her mother and learned that Yaneisi’s father had passed away just five days earlier. Already living in extreme poverty, the family had now lost their primary provider.
Today, Yaneisi is entering our child sponsorship program. Through the faithful care of our local church partners, she’ll receive nutritious meals, educational opportunities, and Christ-centered discipleship. The same heart that led her to put her brother first will now be nurtured and equipped as she discovers her God-given worth and purpose, giving her the opportunity to become a source of hope in her family and community.

Because of the unique circumstances on this Caribbean island, many children in this program wait much longer for a sponsor than children in our other programs. To protect their privacy and the work of our local church partners, we don’t publicly feature these children online. Many of them are also teenagers, who are often overlooked despite being at a pivotal season of life.
