Genesis lives with her parents and her four siblings. Her mother works as a dishwasher in a restaurant. Her father was in the United States for 7 years to earn money to build the house where they now live. He is now back home and working in construction but his long absence and lack of emotional closeness has affected the family.
Her brothers, Jose and Jonatan, are also in the Trigo y Miel program.
