Elias lives with his grandparents, mother, 3 siblings and 3 cousins in a three-room mud house with no electricity and a dirt floor. The house has a bad roof that leaks when it rains. They use a pit latrine that is in a poor condition. Elias’s grandparents are the main providers for the family.
His grandmother and mother are causal laborers and his grandfather shines shoes. It is difficult for them to meet the basic needs of all the children in their care.
Elias’s older sister, Monica Mwihaki, also attends Mama Beth’s Children’s Program.
