Stella lives with her mother and a younger sister in a rented one-room concrete house with electricity. They fetch water from a borehole to boil for drinking and share an outdoor communal bathroom facility with their neighbors.
Stella’s parents separated due to domestic violence and her mother had to flee with her children to keep them safe. She raises her children on her own and has to look for casual jobs in the village to provide for her and her children’s needs.
