Yonathan lives with his grandfather, mother and sister, Legna (also in the program), in a small one-room wood house with a dirt floor and a broken tile roof. The house is in poor condition. They cook with propane and when they run out, they use wood or charcoal. They have running water that they drink even though it is untreated. Yonathan shares a bed with his mother and sister in a space separated by a partial wall. The house gets flooded when it rains.
Yonathan’s parents are divorced and his father does not help financially with the children. His mother is unemployed since the place where she worked closed down. The family has two meals a day until mid-month when there is only enough for one.
